Beloved Korean Actress Welcomes First Child After 30 Hours of Labor and Emergency C-Section

Actress Choi Yeon-cheong has officially entered motherhood, welcoming her first child via emergency cesarean section after 30 hours of labor — nearly two years after marrying her husband, a judge.

According to an exclusive report from OSEN on May 6, Choi gave birth to a healthy baby boy at an obstetrics clinic in Seoul. She later opened up on social media about the intense experience:

“After 30 hours of labor induction, my cervix finally dilated, but since the baby was facing sideways, I had to undergo an emergency C-section. Thankfully, both the baby and I are healthy.”

Now recovering at a postpartum care center, Choi expressed deep gratitude in her post:

“Thank you to our son for coming into the world safely and healthily, and to my husband, the doctors, and the nurses who stayed by my side the whole time. I’ll raise him well — thank you.”

Choi also shared touching photos of herself cradling her newborn and another of her husband looking lovingly at the baby, which melted hearts online.

The actress tied the knot with her husband, a judge, in June 2023. Prior to their wedding, Choi revealed that she had battled thyroid cancer and endured a three-year hiatus due to health issues. She credited her husband as her rock during those challenging times, saying he “stood by me like a steadfast pine tree.”

Choi Yeon-cheong first made her entertainment debut in 2016 through Super Junior’s “MAGIC” music video and has since appeared in dramas like Gogh, The Starry Night, Miss Hammurabi, Where Your Eyes Linger, and films including Rampant, One Punch, Morning Princess, and Turn: The Street. She recently returned to the stage with Changing Partners and continues to balance work in both Korea and China.
